Recently, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the second and fourth sections of Lianyungang Hongke New Materials Co., Ltd.’s Hongke Biodegradable Materials Project (Phase I).

The project uses n-butane from the Shenghong Refining and Chemical Integration Project and purified terephthalic acid (PTA) resin from Honggang Petrochemical as the main raw materials to produce polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT) and other products, with an annual output of 120 000 tons. The phase I will mainly involve the construction of a 200 000 t/a maleic anhydride unit, a 150 000 t/a 1,4-butanediol (BDO) unit and a 120 000 t/a PBAT unit. These units are expected to be completed in August 2025.
