The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently confirmed working focuses regarding the standardization of new energy vehicles (NEVs) to research and make standards that are urgently needed.

Domestic output and sales volume of automobiles both fell in the first four months of 2019, down 11% YoY to 8.39 million and down 12.1% YoY to 8.35 million, respectively. However, the output of NEVs in the same period soared 58.5% YoY to 368 000, and the sales volume reached 360 000, surging 59.8% YoY.

The MIIT is to continue to improve standards related to NEVs, FCEVs (fuel cell electric vehicles) and recycling of power batteries in 2019.
