Lvtianhua Group’s Sichuan Zhonglan Guosu New Material Science & Technology Co., Ltd. announced in Chengdu on June 6 that a new 100 000 t/a polycarbonate (PC) industrialization demonstration project adopting non-phosgene-based melt condensation polymerization patent technology - the first Independent Intellectual Property Rights (IIPR) unit in China - was started up successfully.

Sources said the unit was constructed on April 1, 2017 and high-quality PC from it was produced on May 15, 2019. Now the unit is running stably, with the security and environmental-protection indices meeting standards, and the specifications of its products reaching a national superior level. The successful start-up of the project unveiled that China has had advanced technologies in the sector.

The technologies used by the unit come from Chinese Academy of Sciences Chengdu Organic Chemicals Co., Ltd.’s non-phosgene-based diphenyl carbonate technology and Zhonglan Chenguang Chemical Engineering Research & Design Institute’s melt condensation polymerization PC technology, entitling it to be the first IIPR industrialization PC unit in China. It is highly appraised for environmental protection during the production, advanced technological level and high product quality.
