On March 20, China’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) officially released major achievements in the utilization of solid waste resource - the plan for the green manufacturing, ecological and cyclic utilization of waste tyre (rubber) demonstration plant.

Jointly undertaken by Doublestar and nine universities in China including Southeast University, the project will be developed to fill the gap in the world related to green cracking, carbon black regeneration technology and smart equipment and Doublestar becomes the first one to found all process operation “Industry 4.0” smart factory in global tyre industry. The production process is highly intelligent. The plant will recover around 45% of primary oil, 35% of carbon black, 12% of steel wire and 8% of combustible gas from each used tyre, achieving zero pollution, zero residue, zero emission and full utilization of waste tyres. Covering an area of 200mu, the Phase I project will have a total investment of RMB330 million and can treat 100 000 tons of waste rubber annually.
