China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) plans to build an ethane-based ethylene project in Korla in Bayingol Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture. With a total investment of RMB11.2 billion, the project is located in the Petroleum and Petrochemical Industrial Park of Shangku High-tech Zone in Korla. Construction is expected to begin in March, including a 762 kt/a ethane recovery unit, a 600 kt/a ethylene plant, a 300 kt/a PE swing plant and a 300 kt/a LDPE plant. By-products are hydrogen, fuel gas and C3+, etc.
