Sinopec-SK (Wuhan) Petrochemical has kicked off the construction of the ethylene de-bottlenecking and reform project. The construction period will last for 16 months and the project is expected to become operational in September 2020.

With a total investment of RMB4.25 billion, the project will include the renovation of three plants, building three new plants and public works. After the completion of the project, the ethylene capacity of Sinopec SK (Wuhan) Petrochemical will be expanded from 800kt/a to 1 100kt/a. The newly built 300kt/a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plant and 300kt/a PP plant will adopt advanced technology to produce high-performance products, such as triple-peak or even multiple-peak PE products, which are widely used in gas pipe manufacturing. The new plants can also provide customized products to meet differentiated market demand.
