On November 19, the State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC for a short) commenced its project on 800 000 t/a of coal-to-olefins.
Located in Dalu Industrial Park, Jungar Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the project obtains a gross investment of RMB23.788 billion. As it exploits local coal resources and employs techniques like pulverized coal gasification, methanol synthesis, methanol to olefins and olefin polymerization, it is able to produce 800 000 t/a of polyethylene, polypropylene and spin-offs such as liquefied petroleum gas and sulfur.
The backbone of the project comprises air separation, powder coal gasification, methanol synthesis, methanol to olefins, polyethylene, polypropylene, sulfur recycling facilities and other major production equipment. As to the public auxiliary engineering, it mainly includes thermal power stations (integrated coal gasification with combined cycle process), water supply systems, stockpiling and distribution systems (coal storage, product tank areas, and silos). Besides, what constitutes environmental protection engineering mainly is wastewater treatment systems, water reuse systems, exhaust gas treatment facilities and torches, etc.
