Shanxi’s First National-scale Biogas Pilot Project Construction Started

On December 15, 2017, the first national-scale biogas pilot project in Shanxi Province being developed by Shanxi Shenmu New Energy Co., Ltd. officially started construction in Yuanping City. The plant, with a total investment of RMB114 million, is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in October 2018. The project adopts the world leading German raw material pretreatment technology and anaerobic fermentation system to efficiently recycle and utilize agricultural wastes. It can digest from about 6 666.7 to 13 333.3 hectares of crop straw or treat 100 000 to 150 000 tons of livestock and poultry wastes and produce 14 million m3 of biogas, over 30 000 tons of solid high-efficiency organic fertilizer, over 10 000 tons of liquid organic fertilizer and 6 million m3 of air fertilizer a year. Capable of effectively treating agricultural wastes in a clean, harmless way and turning them into energy and fertilizer, the project shows good economic, resource, ecological, environmental, demonstrative and social benefits.
