China Extends Anti-dumping Duties on EU & US Caprolactam

China had imposed anti-dumping duties on caprolactam originating from the EU and the U.S. for five years beginning October 22, 2011.
On October 21, 2016 China conducted an expiry review. It covered dumping that occurred from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016 and industry injury that occurred from January 1, 2012 to June 30, 2016.
Combined volume of caprolactam, dumped by the EU and the U.S. in China, reached 237 000 tons in 2012, 129 300 tons in 2013, 64 900 tons in 2014, 85 300 tons in 2015 and 71 600 tons in 2016, according to customs data.
The Ministry of Commerce of China (MOC) argues that dumping and industry injury may continue or reoccur if China ends these measures. Hence, it decided to extend them for another five years, effective October 22, 2017.
