China Now World’s Top API Exporter

After many years of development, China has become the world’s second largest pharmaceutical consumer, and the biggest exporter of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
China has nearly 5 000 firms engaged in the production of APIs and formulations. Main business revenue of the domestic pharmaceutical industry exceeds RMB2.5 trillion a year, and profit tops RMB270 billion. Around 50 formulations enterprises have obtained European and American certification, and their combined export of pharmaceuticals exceeds US$13.5 billion.
