China to Probe Dumping of Methyl Isobutyl Ketone

The Ministry of Commerce of China will investigate alleged dumping of methyl isobutyl ketone (HS code: 29141300) by Korea, Japan and South Africa,according to an March 27 announcement. The reported dumping lasted from October 1, 2015 to September 30, 2016. The time span for the injury test runsfrom January 1, 2013 to September 30, 2016.
Methyl isobutyl ketone is a versatile medium-evaporating solvent material used for organic synthesis. As a solvent, it is applied mainly in making coatings, pharmaceuticals, dewaxing-solvents, rare-metal extractants,  data storage tapes, printing inks, epoxy resins and adhesives, and in atomic absorption spectrophotometry. As an organic synthesis material, it is used as a chemical intermediate in synthesizing rubber antioxidant 4020 specialty surfactants and methyl isobutyl carbinol, or used as a polymerization initiator or latent curing agent of epoxy resins.
