Sinopec Supplies Over 100 Million m3 of CBM in Shanxi

By February 8, Yanchuannan CBM field, Sinopec’s first coalbed methane (CBM) field, has supplied over 100 million m3 of CBM to Shanxi province since its construction in 2015.
Located in Shanxi province, northern China, the Yanchuannan CBM field is being explored by Sinopec Eastern China Branch (SECB). The methane’s average buried depth is around 1 200 meters. SECB made breakthroughs in 2009, in the first exploration well, Yan 1 Well. In 2013, Sinopec started to construct a 500 million cubic meter/a CBM extraction field and finished it in 2015, including more than 200 platforms and over 900 CBM wells. The field now produces 740 000 cubic meters of  CBM per day.
