China Produced 2.6 Million Tons of Titanium Dioxide in 2016


Domestic output of titanium dioxide reached 2.6 million tons in 2016, up 11.8% or 274 000 tons from 2.32 million tons in 2015, according to China National Titanium Dioxide Industry Association.
In breakdown, output of rutile titanium dioxide totaled 1.97 million tons, accounting for 75.8% of the nation’s total; that of anatase titanium dioxide reached 475 000 tons, or 18.3% of the total; and that of non-pigment titanium dioxide was 153 000 tons or 5.9%.
Lomon Billions Group Co., Ltd. produced 588 000 tons of titanium dioxide in 2016, providing 22.6% of the nation’s total output. The group is the result of merging Sichuan Lomon Titanium Industry Co., Ltd., Xiangyang Lomon Titanium Industry Co., Ltd. and Henan Billions Chemicals Co., Ltd.
The yield of four enterprises employing the chlorination process exceeded 100 000 tons for the first time, reaching 105 000 tons in 2016, contributing 4% of the total and rising nearly 25 000 tons from a year earlier.
Incomplete statistics show that around 2.48 million tons of titanium dioxide were sold in 2016, and domestic capacity was 3.59 million t/a.
