On January 11, 2017, SABIC, a global leader in diversified chemicals, announced that it will continue as a Strategic Partner of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) for the fourth consecutive year in 2017, reaffirming its commitment to the annual conference. This marks SABIC’s ninth consecutive year of collaboration with the BFA. The announcement was made by Li Lei, Vice President, North Asia, SABIC, at the BFA press conference presided over by Zhou Wenzhong, Secretary General of Boao Forum for Asia.
Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) is a non-governmental and non-profit international organization, formally inaugurated in 2001. It has become a high-end platform for dialogs among leaders of national governments, industrial and business circles, and academic circles of countries in Asia and other continents about the important issues in Asia and the world. Yousef Abdullah Al-Benyan, SABIC Vice Chairman and CEO, is currently the board member of BFA.
“Amidst the profound and complex changes that are taking place in the global landscape, co-operation remains the theme of the era,” said Li Lei. “SABIC remains committed to being an inclusive partner to governments and companies in Asia, working together to promote sustainable development and security in the region.”
As a material solutions provider with presence in more than 50 countries, SABIC applies ingenuity to effect positive change -- from enabling lighter, stronger and more fuel-efficient transportation, to helping to reduce food waste through improved packaging, SABIC collaborates with its customers and partners to make the modern world a better, more sustainable place, calling this ‘Chemistry that Matters (TM)’.
“The future will be built on innovations. The more we collaborate, the more we innovate. This is why we focus on developing strong co-operation with our customers and partners. It benefits us all,” said Li Lei.
Through our continual focus on innovation, SABIC’s efforts in this area is helping to promote China’s transformation from “Made in China” to “Created in China”. One recent instance is the Collaborative Research Agreement (CRA) signed among SABIC, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP), a research institute affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) on December 22, 2016.
SABIC’s delegation to the BFA on March 23 - 26, 2017 will be led by His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thenayan Al-Saud, SABIC Chairman and Chairman of the Royal Commission of Yanbu and Jubail, and Yousef Abdullah Al-Benyan, SABIC Vice Chairman and CEO, who also sits on the board of the BFA. The delegation will engage in dialogues with heads of states, government officials, business leaders as well as industry experts.
