CNPC Put Mackay River Project Phase I into Operation

On December 2, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) announced that Mackay River oil sand project phase I in Canada came on line.
As one of CNPC’s two solely-invested projects in Canada, Mackay River project is operated by Brion Energy, CNPC’s subsidiary based in Calgary.
The project, located in alpine region in north Alberta, is planned to produce
35 000 bbl/d in the first phase by using steam assisted gravity unloading technology, and expected to reach a capacity of 150 000 bbl/d eventually.
