China Resources Put PET Project Phase II into Operation in Zhuhai


On November 17, China Resources (Holdings) Co., Ltd. (China Resources) hosted a ceremony for the startup of polyester (PET) project phase II in China Resources Zhuhai Packaging Materials Co., Ltd.
The polyester project, located in Gaolan Harbour Zone, Zhuhai city, is invested by China Resources Chemical (Holdings) Co., Ltd., which is a subsidiary of China Resources and engaged in the production and sales of polyester chips and downstream products.
Polyester chips are the main material for beverage and drinking water bottles.
The project covers 200 000 m2 and is built in two phases. The first phase, with a PET capacity of 300 kt/a, came on line successfully in June 2012. On the basis of that, China Resources Chemical invested additional RMB400 billion in the second PET production line, with a capacity of 300 000 t/a.
The startup of the PET project phase II makes the company’s PET chips capacity increase to 1.6 million t/a in the sites of Changzhou and Zhuhai.
The Zhuhai 600 kt/a PET project laid the foundation for China Resources Chemical’s Five-Year ambitions (2016-2020) of 1 million t/a PET capacity.
China Resources Chemical plans to conduct the phase III and add 500 kt/a capacity for PET chips and medical polyester.
