China Approves Coal-to-Gas Project in Xinjiang

The National Development and Reform Commission of China on October 21 approved Suxin Energy’s RMB24.53 billion, 4 billion m3/a coal-to-natural gas demonstration project in the Hoboksar Mongol Autonomous County in Tacheng, Xinjiang autonomous region.
The project will take advantage of local coal resource and use compressed coal gasification, pressurized gasification, and methanation technologies to produce syngas, as well as tar, oil, naphtha and sulfur.
