On November 17, 2016, Polymer announced that Tom Hooper, President of Polymer Technology & Services, LLC (PTS) formally announces the grand opening of a new location in Guadalajara, Mexico. PTS Mexico aims to broaden the global efforts of the organization as a whole by reaching new customer bases via local representation. The additional location encapsulates the current strategy being implemented at PTS: understand customer needs, provide solutions to help gain market share, and be the go-to leader in engineering resins in Mexico.
   “The new Mexico location supports the PTS business model of expert product knowledge while being an integral part of a growing country,” says Gerardo Lopez Kuri, Country Manager of PTS Mexico.
   PTS Mexico will create new jobs while offering extraordinary customer service, short lead times, and more than 200 UL listed engineering resins to the area. Key leaders will include Gerardo Lopez Kuri as well as Eddie Oropeza, VP of Sales and Business Development.
   “Mexico’s economy has excelled relative to other Latin American economies in recent years largely due to flourishing manufacturing sectors, including supporting markets such as electronics manufacturing, aerospace, and automobile industries,” says Oropeza. “Moving from traditional bases such as South Korea or China to Mexico, and the inclusion of Mexico in the Trans-Pacific Partnership, will increase the country’s participation in global supply chains.”
   With the recent influx, expansion, and investment of many international and Mexican owned and operated companies, Mexico has become a prime candidate for the expansion of engineering resins. Plastic professionals in Mexico contribute to the national expertise not only in straightforward assembly carried out by the Maquiladoras, but also sophisticated manufacturing operations, resulting in a growing number of technological and engineering centers where PTS’s capability in application development and customized products will fill a tremendous unmet need.
