China's Pesticide Output up 21.7% in H1 2012

The National Bureau of Statistics of China announced that China produced 323 900 tons of pesticide technical in June 2012, up 14.2% year on year, but down 0.2% month on month. Jiangsu Province ranked No.1 with a total output of 106 100 tons, accounting for 32.75% of China's total output while Gansu Province ranked No.1 in respect of growth rate with a ten-fold annual growth.
   In the first half of 2012, the nation manufactured 1.724 million tons of pesticide technical, up 21.7% year on year. Out of which the output was 395 000 tons for insecticide, down 0.8% YoY; 73 000 for bactericide, down 11.8% YoY and 788 000 for herbicide, surging 36.4% YoY. Jiangsu Province ranked No.1 with a total output of 566 300 tons, up 16.8% year on year, taking up 32.85% of the nation's total output. And Shanghai ranked No.1 in the growth rate, with a growth of 57.5% reaching 1 million tons, followed by Shandong Province with the growth of 56.2%, which ranked No.2 in an output of 145 800 tons. Some provinces experienced negative growth, like Heilongjiang Province which has an output of only 1 438 tons, lowering 27.5% compared with the same period last year and Sichuan Province which is 21.8% down and Hunan Province which is 20.8% down.
   In addition, China exported 473 200 tons of pesticide, rising 11% YoY, valued at US$1.48 billion.
   With the growing demand for pesticide in the Chinese market, the China Pesticide Industry Association expects the production and demand of pesticide to continue to increase in the second half of the year.
