China's Synthetic Rubber Industry Will Develop Fast in Coming Years

A complete synthetic rubber product system has been set up

China's synthetic rubber industry has already established a relatively complete product system, including seven basic types of synthetic rubber, such as emulsion-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (ESBR), solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (SSBR), butadiene rubber (BR), ethylene-propylene rubber (EPDM), butyl rubber (IIR), nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR), isoprene rubber (IR), chloroprene rubber (CR) and styrene block copolymers (SBCs). By the end of 2011, China's total synthetic rubber production capacity had reached about 3.323 million t/a. Among the products, the self-sufficiency rate of SSBR and BR in China is relatively high. The country has also set up several EPDM, NBR and IIR plants using foreign technologies and has put them into production.
