CNOOC Breaks Ground Yuedong LNG Project    

On December 11th China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) held a ceremony to break ground the liquid natural gas (LNG) project in Huilai county, Jieyang, Guangdong province. CNOOC plans to spend RMB10.3 billion to construct LNG receiving terminals, berth and backbone gas transmission pipeline with a total length of 170 kilometers. The first phase will be capable of treating 2 million tons of LNG per year. Among the total investment, RMB155.6 million will be used to construct attached environmental protection facilities. The Ministry of Environmental Protection approved the environmental impact assessment report related to this project on December 18th.
   CNOOC also opened a heavy oil laboratory in Huizhou, Guangdong province on December 10th. The laboratory is jointly established by CNOOC Huizhou Refinery and China University of Petroleum.
