On October 16th China's leading potash producer Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Group Company Limited (QSLIG) held an inauguration ceremony for the first phase of the 1 million t/a potash fertilizer comprehensive utilization project at the Chahar Salt Lake Zone of Qinghai province.
Construction on the RMB10 billion project was proceeded in two phases, that on the first phase was started in September 2005. (CCR2005 No.29) Phase one includes a air separation unit, a 45 000 t/a acetylene unit, a 120 000 t/a potassium hydroxide unit, a 72 000 t/a potassium carbonate unit, a 100 000 t/a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) unit, a 190 000 t/a ammonia unit, a 330 000 t/a urea unit, a 100 000 t/a methanol unit and other attached facilities, which consumes potassium chloride made by QSLIG itself and natural gas supplied by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC)'s Sebei Natural Gas Field.
