CNOOC Starts Building Zhuhai LNG Terminal    

CNOOC Gas & Power Group, a fully owned by CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corporation), started building a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal in Zhuhai, Guangdong province on October 20th.
   The whole project is designed to handle 7 million tons of LNG per year. The first phase, approved by the National Development and Reform Commission this March, is expected to cost RMB11.3 billion, and it will be able to take in 3.5 million tons of LNG per year when it is operational in 2013, to meet the LNG needs in Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Jiangmen in Guangdong province. The second phase will be initiated under the marketing conditions.
   The Zhuhai LNG terminal project is operated by Guangdong Zhuhai Jinwan LNG Co., Ltd., which is jointly held by CNOOC Gas and Power and a number of local energy companies.
   The Zhuahai LNG terminal has easy access to joining trunk pipeline of CNOOC Dapeng LNG terminal, CNOOC said.
