Luxi Chemical Starts up Caustic Soda Unit     

Luxi Chemical Group Co Ltd (SZ: 000830) announced on May 20th that its new 200 000 t/a ionic membrane caustic soda unit produced qualified products in May, reaching the design capacity. The company began to construct this unit in April 2009 and completed construction in March 2010.
   Moreover, Luxi Chemical also completed construction of 50 000 t/a silicone unit and 80 000 t/a melamine unit recently and is conducting trial operation on them.
   The company started up a 60 000 t/a methane chlorides unit - the first phase of the 120 000 t/a methane chlorides project, in March. Construction on the second phase 60 000 t/a unit has been started in May, which is planned for startup in November this year.
   Despite the economic recession, the company launched six new chemical projects in 2009, including a 100 000 t/a methylamine project that came onstream earlier this year.
