Hongli Starts up Caustic Soda Project

Hongli Chemical Co of Inner Mongolia Chenhongli Group recently put on stream its 50 000 t/a caustic soda and 50 000 t/a polyvinyl chloride project in Alashan Economic Development Zone. The company also disclosed that it will construct a 200 000 t/a calcium carbide project this year.
Hongli Chemical, built in 2004, started to construct a 200 000 t/a caustic soda and 200 000 t/a polyvinyl chloride project in December 2004 and stopped construction several months later. By judging the adjacent competing chlor-alkali projects, the company modified its construction capacity for both caustic soda and polyvinyl chloride from 200 000 t/a to 50 000 t/a.
Three kilometers away from Hongli Chemical's factory, Jilantai Salt Chemical Group Co., Ltd. of China National Salt Industry Corporation operates a 180 000 t/a caustic soda unit and a 200 000 t/a polyvinyl chloride unit. There are other two chlor-alkali companies close to Hongli Chemical - Inner Mongolia Yihua Chemical Co Ltd and Inner Mongolia Junzheng Group.
