CHALCO Announced New Alumina Projects    

Aluminum Corporation of China Limited (CHALCO SH: 601600) announced its plan of issuing non-publicly 1 billion additional shares received approval from China Securities Regulatory Commission on April 14th. This issuance will raise up to RMB10 billion to fund new projects including the 800 000 t/a alumina project in Chongqing (startup in 2010), the 800 000 t/a alumina project in Shanxi province (construction is planned to start in 2011) and the 700 000 t/a mineral ore processing plant in Henan province (startup in 2011). These projects will help CHALCO increase its alumina production capacity by 19%.
