Hengtong Inaugurated Production of Hydrogen Peroxide     

Shandong Hengtong Chemical Co., Ltd. was officially announced merged into Shandong Yangquan Coal Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. on March 26th with a ceremony held together for the startup of 200 000 t/a hydrogen peroxide plant and the construction of 400 000 t/a ionic membrane caustic soda plant in Tancheng of Shandong province.
   The first phase 200 000 t/a caustic soda project will cost an estimated RMB500 million, and is scheduled for startup in June 2011.
   Shandong Hengtong engages in the production of urea, methanol, caustic soda, hydrogen peroxide and polyvinyl chloride. Methanol it produced is now planned to make ethylene and propylene.   
   The company will reportedly construct a 200 000 t/a propylene oxide production plant by directly oxidizing hydrogen peroxide and a 300 000 t/a polyvinyl chloride unit that uses ethylene oxychlorination process in the period of 2011-2015.
