Galaxy Lithium Kicks off in Zhangjiagang

On February 21st, 2010 a ceremony was held at Yangtze River International Chemical Industry Park of Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province for the groundbreaking of Galaxy Lithium (Jiang Su) Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Chinese investment company Creat Group Co., Ltd. and Australian emerging lithium producer, Galaxy Resources Limited (ASX:GXY). The joint venture started on the same day construction of a 17 000 t/a lithium carbonate project in the park.
GXY planned this project one year earlier and finally received the project approval and business license on February 11th, 2010. The company expected to have the jv plant commissioned in the fourth quarter this year. The company said this project can help it lower associated capital and operating costs, as well as being close to the strategic growing battery markets in Asia. GXY also expect to double its annual production capacity over a few years.
