AICM's Responsible Care Concept

AICM Chairman Dr. Yu Dahai, President of Evonik Industries AG Greater China Region, and Deputy Chairman Dr. Peter von Zumbusch, President of WACKER Chemicals attended the 3rd International Advanced Material Summit that held in Chengdu, Sichuan province.
Dr. Yu Dahai addressed during his speech that since it is established in 1988, AICM has been dedicated to introducing Responsible Care concept into China, and have effectively implemented the concept in the Chinese chemical industry.
He pointed out during the summit that Responsible Care is the centerpiece of the global chemical industry's commitment to sustainability. Responsible Care philosophy also perfectly matches the Chinese government's cycle economic concept.
First of all, development of products and technologies provided solutions to meet the sustainability challenges: energy saving solutions provided in light weight plastics in vehicles, insulation, solar, wind and biodiesel energy technologies, and silicones in weather proofing.
And, Responsible Care and the Global Product Strategy require companies to continuously assess the impacts of their products and operations, and implement programs to reduce their footprints and maximize their contributions. An ICCA life-cycle analysis study released in 2009 shows that GHG emission savings enabled by the chemical industry outweigh the industry's emissions more than two-fold.
