The 3rd International Advanced Material Summit Held in Chengdu      

On May 6th - 7th, 2010, China National Chemical Information Center (CNCIC) and Association of International Chemical Manufactures (AICM) jointly hosted the 3rd International Advanced Material Summit with the Chengdu municipal government, and many other industrial associations and leading chemical companies.
   The 3rd International Advanced Materials (Chengdu) Summit is aimed at gathering industrial elites to inspire sparks of opportunity and innovation within the advanced materials industry.
   It draws over 300 government officials involved in drafting policy for or management of the advanced materials industry, directors and leaders of industrial associations, societies and organizations, CEOs, presidents, R&D directors from different parts of the world.
   Li Yongwu, president of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, disclosed that the output value of the country's advanced materials in the chemical industry surpassed RMB100 billion (US$15 billion) in 2009.
   All the attendances agreed that China's chemical industry should pay increasing attention to energy and environmental issues, in order to achieve healthier growth.
   "We hope the summit will boost the reputation of Chengdu as an important economic zone and a new growth point in western China," said Ge Honglin, mayor of Chengdu.
   The Chengdu government is building a functional zone in Xinjin county, which is under the concept of intensive land-use, cluster developmen, specialized configuration as well as clean, green and energy-saving production, and the aim of constructing the state-level circular economic demonstration park, makes great endeavors to develop high-end industries, and at present, it has gathered up 34 industrial enterprises including Tianwei Silicon's polysilicon project with investment of RMB2.7 billion and western advanced material base project with investment of RMB10 billion by ChemChina. Tianwei Silicon-Tech Co., Ltd. and Chengdu Chemical Co., Ltd. have jointly formed the healthy chlor-alkali-liquid chlorine-polycrystalline-silicon circular industry chain.
