Hengsheng Energy Earmarks RMB3.3 BLN for Biogas

Hengsheng Energy Company under Anyang Zhenyuan Group plans to invest RMB3.3 billion over the next five years to develop 88 biogas projects. Its biogas output will reach 150 million cubic meters by 2015.
Biogas is expected to become a major supplement to urban gas supplies because it is cheap, easy to collect for raw materials, and not restricted by pipeline network and gas sources, industry experts said.
Biogas refers to a gas produced by the fermentation of organic compound such as manure and kitchen wastes. It is a gas with 97% of methane content after being purified and compressed.
The first phase of the Anyang project in Henan province will cost RMB65 million, with an annual output of 4 million cubic meters of biogas, which will be used to power motor vehicles, an official in charge at Hengsheng said.
Hengsheng also plans to build biogas plants in Xinzheng and Kaifeng, both in Henan province, with combined annual capacity of 6 million cubic meters. The Xinzheng project will cost RMB50 million. Hengsheng has been in talks for cooperation with Jiangyin, Yancheng, Xuyi and Tanghe in Jiangsu province.
