Jinguang Chem Puts STPP Project on Stream    

Sichuan Jinguang Industrial Group's subsidiary Sichuan Jinguang Chemical Co Ltd (Jinguang Chem) announced in late August that the construction on 110 000 t/a fine phosphates project went smoothly and will be completed soon. Production will be started in September.
   The RMB150 million project that includes a 100 000 t/a sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) unit, four 2 500 t/a food grade units of sodium dihydrogen phosphate, disodium hydrogen phosphate, trisodium phosphate and sodium pyrophosphate, and a matching 30 000 t/a yellow phosphorus unit was constructed on the support of the company's phase one phosphates project (including a 120 000 t/a food grade phosphoric acid unit and a 20 000 t/a industrial grade yellow phosphorus unit).
   Jinguang Chem was opened up at Panzhihua Titanium Industry Park of Sichuan province on December 12th, 2008 and construction on the phase one was started on the same day. Phase one came on stream in May 2009. The company's total plan announced in 2008 also included a 50 000 t/a glyphosate unit in phase two. Jinguang Chem has no comment if the construction plan of glyphosate will be launched or eliminated, given the serious overcapacity in China's glyphosate industry.
