Construction on Xuanhan Gas Purification Plant in northeastern Sichuan province was started on August 5th. The plant is a part of the northeastern Sichuan natural gas joint venture project between China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and Chevron Unocal East China Sea Ltd (fully-owned by Chevron).
The Xuanhan Gas Purification Plant includes three facilities, which combine advanced technologies of Chevron with CNPC experiences in treatment for sulfur content natural gas.
The northeastern Sichuan gas joint venture project, located in Sichuan Basin, is developed by CNPC and Chevron under a gas development and production contract signed in December 2007.
In addition, CNPC and Chevron Unocal East China Sea Ltd inked for the joint development of Luojiazhai gas fields in 2009. The Luojiazhai gas fields are designed to produce 6 billion cubic meters of gas per year, to meet growing demand for gas in southwestern China.
