Hengtong Accelerates Construction of Caustic Soda Project    

China's coal giant Yangquan Coal Industry (Group) Co., Ltd., headquartered in Shanxi province, recently announced acquisition of 51% equity in Shandong Hengtong Chemical Co., Ltd., headquartered in Shandong province. It was reported that this regroup will help Hengtong to acquire easy coal resource and help Yangquan Coal Industry to extend industrial chain.
   Hengtong now operates a 250 000 t/a caustic soda production unit. A manager of Hengtong disclosed on February 3rd, 2010 that after regroup, the company started to accelerate construction of 400 000 t/a ionic membrane caustic soda project and 100 000 t/a hydrogen peroxide project.
   Construction on hydrogen peroxide project was closed to completion and startup will begin soon. The construction bidding for the 200 000 t/a caustic soda project (first phase of the 400 000 t/a project) has been finalized in mid January 2010. The project is scheduled for startup in March 2011.
