Chemical Pollution Reported by Public Hotline     

The Ministry of Environmental Protection's environment complaint office said on December 21st, 2009 that more than half of the complaints it received via public hotline in November 2009 were related to chemical, non-metal mining process, metal refining and paper making industries. And chemical sector is still the key reported target, occupying 28% of the total. In November, the reports on paper making and its related, and power and heat producers rose. The local environmental monitoring department in Chengdu, Sichuan province has ordered the Chengdu Bayi Dye Printing Plant to correct after the plant was reported for above-standard noise and pollutant emissions.
   In November, 43% of the reports were about air pollutions. Air pollutions, water pollutions and noise pollutions together took more than 85% of total reports received.
