CNOOC Discovers Deepwater Gas Field in South China Sea   

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and Husky Oil China Limited have made a new deepwater gas discovery, Liuhua (LH) 34-2, which is the second deepwater gas discovery in the Pearl River Mouth Basin in the eastern South China Sea following Liwan (LW) 3-1 in this area. CNOOC Limited said on December 9th, 2009.
   The Liuhua 34-2-1 well has ability of producing 55 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
   Husky will conduct an appraisal in early 2010 to determine the full potential of the LH34-2 field.
   According to the Production Sharing Contract, CNOOC Limited has the right to participate in up to 51% working interest in any commercial discoveries on Block 29/26. LH 34-2 was discovered on Block 29/26.
