Digital CBM Field Demonstrative Project Came on Stream in Shanxi     

On November 16th, a digital coal bed methane (CBM) field demonstrative project by CNPC, the first one of its kind in China, started operation in Qinshui Basin, Shanxi province.
   The demonstrative project, started up now, is the first phase of the full digital CBM demonstrative plant in Qinshui, mainly including a CBM processing center with an annual capacity of 1 billion cubic meters and a CBM field capable to produce 600 million cubic meters a year. The completed Qinshui CBM demonstrative plant is designed to produce 4.5 billion cubic meters of CBM by 2010. And the CBM is to meet the demand of local end customers and be added in the west-east gas pipeline for the Yangtze River delta area market.
   The running CBM processing facility is expected to have ability of delivering 850 000 cubic meters per day by the end of 2009.
    CNPC has the mining right of an area of 5 646 square kilometers in the south part of Qinshui Basin, with 100 billion cubic meters of proved CBM in place.
