Shenhua and GE Partner for Coal Gasification Solutions in China     

Shenhua Group Corporation and GE announced on November 17th that they have signed a framework agreement for an industrial coal gasification joint venture to extend applications of coal gasification technology solutions in China.
    The memorandum of understanding was inked between the two sides as a key part of the China-US clean energy cooperation signing ceremony in Beijing.
    Through the proposed joint venture, Shenhua and GE would execute a strategic vision for improving cost and performance of commercial scale gasification and integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) solutions, including industrial coal gasification applications in China and jointly pursuing the deployment of commercial operation of IGCC plants with carbon capture.
    The joint venture would combine GE's expertise in gasification and cleaner power generation technologies with Shenhua's expertise in building and operating coal gasification and coal-fired power generation facilities, to advance "cleaner coal" technology solutions in China.
