Shanghai Petrochemical Starts up 150 000 T/A C5 Separation Unit     

On November 4th, 2009 Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co., Ltd. commenced production of 150 000 t/a C5 separation unit.
   C5 is byproduct of ethylene production, and C5 separation unit can produce a series of fine chemical raw materials such as isopentadiene, metapentadiene and dicyclopentadiene.
   After startup of the unit, the capacity of C5 separation in Shanghai Petrochemical has reached 225 000 t/a, and the company has become the biggest C5 R&D and production base in China.
   Shanghai Petrochemical, located in Jinshanwei of Jinshan District, Shanghai, is one of the largest refining-chemical integrated petrochemical companies in China, focusing on the production of oil products, basic organic raw materials, synthetic resins and synthetic fibers.
