China Restricts Construction of Facilities Using HCFCs

The Ministry of Environmental Protection of China (MEP) recently announced to stop approving new construction plans of production facilities using hydrogen-containing chlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) and gave out a list of these facilities.
Facilities in the list include compressor, air-conditioning, freezing apparatus and refrigeration equipment that use HCFCs as refrigerants and widely used in manufacturing industry, commercial industry, transportation industry and room air conditioner. It also include tobacco expansion device using HCFCs as expansion agents, cleaning equipment using HCFCs as cleaning solvents or dissolvents, aerosol production line using HCFCs as propellants and those manufacturing polyurethane foam and extruded polystyrene foam use HCFCs as foaming agent.
Enterprises are required to hand in their application to MEP if they must build facilities that use HCFCs for special purpose.
