Waste Gas of Synthetic Ammonia Process Turned to LNG in Guizhou

As of November 7th, 2009 the first set of device in China that uses the waste industrial gas of synthetic ammonia process to produce liquid natural gas (LNG) has smoothly run more than 50 days in Xifeng county, Guiyang of Guizhou province.
This device was jointly developed by Guiyang Public Traffic Company (GPTC), China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS, as to alleviate LNG supply shortage in public traffic field in Guiyang city.
In July 2008, GPTC jointed hands with Guizhou Kailin Group and established this automobile-used LNG project. This project will make full use of waste industrial gas from the 300 000 t/a synthetic ammonia process of Guizhou Kailin Group to produce LNG.
When full operational, it will produce 33 tons of LNG every day and consume 18 million m3 of industrial gas every year, which can yearly satisfy LNG need of 600 sets of buses, reduce 16 000 m3 of gas discharge and cut RMB12 million of fuel cost.
Guizhou Kailin Group started up its 300 000 t/a synthetic ammonia project in December 2008. (CCR2009 No.1)
