MIIT to Make up Industrial Policy for the Pesticide Industry

In order to further promote China's pesticide industry to develop rationally, healthily and scientifically, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China is stepping up its efforts to make up "Industrial Policy for the Pesticide Industry", aiming to speed up the industrial restructuring of the pesticide industry, optimize the industrial layout, enhance the independent innovative capability and overall competitiveness of the industry, and promote the formation of more famous enterprises and product brands with international competitiveness and independent intellectual property rights in China's pesticide industry.
Since May 7th, 2009 a related research and investigation on the proposed "Industrial Policy for the Pesticide Industry", which was initiated and drafted by MIIT's industrial policy division, has been carried out in more than 20 provinces across China. This research and investigation has taken for a few months. On the basis of investigation, the "Industrial Policy for the Pesticide Industry' will be issued officially at the end of September 2009.
For the investigation, MIIT has organized related experts to hold seminars on pesticide regulations and policies in more than 20 provinces such as Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang and Shandong provinces. At the same time, they visited pesticide production enterprises and conducted field investigations on their production technologies, equipment, safety, environmental protection, sanitation and pesticide production parks. Many enterprises expect that this policy can further standardize the pesticide industry in the aspects of the production permit system, the control over total production, mergers & acquisitions and export trade management of this industry.
The MIIT hopes the market itself will decide the elimination of outdated production units. Amid the serious downturn, the outdated companies with low innovation ability will have not opportunity to survive if the market plays its correct role without interruptions from other aspects.
