Yingli Starts Construction of Crystalline Silicon PV Cell Plant

Yingli Group laid a foundation for an 800 megawatts crystalline silicon photovoltaic cell plant phase IV at its Yingli Industrial Park in the Baoding National High Tech Industrial and Development Zone in Hebei province on July 27th. Construction will complete in December 2010, when Yingli's total photovoltaic (PV) cell capacity will rise to 1 400 MW a year.
Yingli Group is capturing such an opportunity against the backdrop of global financial crisis to build the project, which will help advance the development of China's PV industry.
In addition, Yingli Group's energy business unit, Yingli Energy (China) Co., Ltd. signed an agreement with Haikou's municipal government on July 17th to build a project covering the polysilicon PV cell business.
Yingli Energy plans to build a first phase 100 MW a year project, covering polysilicon ingots, slicing, wafers, modules and PV applications, with a total investment of RMB1.2 billion in the Shiziling industrial zone in the high tech zone in Haikou.
Yingli Group chairman Miao Liansheng said Yingli will use Hainan as a launching pad to tap Southeast Asia markets.
Yingli Group, founded in 1987, focuses on the new energy business and has subsidiaries or plants in USA, Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece and Brazil. In China, it has subsidiaries and manufacturing plants in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Tibet, Lanzhou, Guangzhou and Hainan. At present, Yingli offers silicon material, ingots, wafers, cells, modules and integrated PV systems.
