CNPC and Costa Rica Sign Supplementary Accord      

CNPC International Ltd. (CNPCI or China National Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Corporation) under CNPC (China National Petroleum Corp.) signed a supplementary contract with Costa Rican Oil Refinery to jointly invest US$1 billion in refining expansion in Costa Rica.
   The supplementary accord, following an agreement signed in November 2008, under which both sides intend to establish a joint venture for expanding Costa Rica's refining capacity to 3 million tons per year from current 1.2 million tons per year, and conduct a feasibility study on a 10 million t/a refinery.
   The project is CNPC's first one in Central America.
