CNPC Expands Jilin Refinery to 10 MLN T/A and Starts Construction of 400 000 T/A ABS Project     

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), China's largest oil producer, started expansion work on its refinery of Jilin Petrochemical Co., Ltd. in Jilin province on July 17th.
  Jilin refinery's capacity will be expanded to 10 million t/a. The whole expansion complex includes six sections - atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit, catalytic cracking unit, gas fractionation unit, diesel hydrotreating unit, gasoline hydrotreating unit and sulfur recovery plant. Among them, sulfur recovery plant is expected to be completed by the end of 2009, and the other five units are scheduled for startup in October 2010.
   Furthermore, construction on its 400 000 t/a ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) resin plant in the Jilin site was commenced on the same day. The integrated ABS resin plant to be built includes 200 000 t/a ABS special material line, 200 000 t/a ABS general-purpose material line and 320 000 t/a styrene monomer facility.  
   Upon completion of these facilities, Jilin Petrochemical will have capability of producing 860 000 tons of petrochemicals such as ethylene and propylene, and extend product chain, upgrade oil products quality and strengthen its profit-making ability.
