Daqo Group Launches Polysilicon Project Phase I

Daqo Group inaugurated expansion of the polysilicon project phase I in Wanzhou, Chongqing on June 30th, bringing annual production capacity to 1 800 tons.
Chongqing Daqo New Energy Co., a unit of Daqo Group, had launched the polysilicon project phase I with a capacity 1 500 t/a in July 2008, producing electronic-grade and solar-grade products.
Construction on the first phase expansion project, which increases capacity to 1 800 tons a year from 1 500 tons, started in August 2008.
The expansion program is a demonstration of Daqo's confidence in the solar photovoltaic industry and firm resolve to fast expand the polysilicon business, Daqo Chairman Xu Guangfu said. The polysilicon project phase I and its expansion have advantaged Chongqing Daqo New Energy to compete in the field of silicon manufacturing. Chongqing Daqo is actively preparing for construction on the second phase, with an aim to build Daqo into a leading polysilicon producer in the domestic market.
Daqo Group now owns 23 subsidiaries, among which seven are joint ventures with partners including Germany's Siemens and Moeller, the United States-based Eaton Corp, Swiss company Secheron SA and NKT of Denmark.
