Bayer MaterialScience Signs Co-Branding Agreement with New Chinese Partners

By Rowena Wang

Bayer MaterialScience recently signed a new co-branding agreement with Chinese paint manufacturer, The China Paint MFG. Co. (Shenzhen) Ltd., a deal which enables China Paint to feature Bayer's Woodcover TM branding on the packaging of those wood coating products that exclusively use Bayer's hardeners.
Bayer MaterialScience also held a seminar on June 19th with six other Chinese co-branding partners, to discuss the importance of environmentally-friendly coatings and adhesive products for China's long-term environmental sustainability initiatives and the future development of the co-branding partnership.
The range of products that Bayer MaterialScience supplies to partners is the hardener series named Desmodur (R ) which not only stands for high-quality, but also safety with its low level of TDI monomer, a substance known to be harmful to health in large doses. Wood coatings that fully use Bayer MaterialScience hardeners, for instance, contain less than 0.1% of TDI monomer.
Bayer MaterialScience launched a new production facility for waterborne polyurethane dispersions (PUD) in Shanghai last year to promote the use of eco-friendly raw materials for coatings and adhesives in China and the Asia Pacific market. PUD makes a significant contribution to the reduction of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
