Zhejiang Prescribes Construction Sites for Dangerous Chemicals Projects

Zhejiang provincial government recently ruled that all dangerous chemicals production and storage projects must be constructed in specialized areas mapped out in accordance with the law.
From 2010 onwards, urban and rural planning departments in regions where no dangerous chemicals production and storage are permitted should not accept land use permit applications for constructing dangerous chemicals production and storage projects.
At the same time, the Zhejiang provincial government will exercise tight control over safety approval of dangerous chemicals production and storage construction projects, examine strictly construction projects of highly toxic chemicals, flammable and explosive chemicals, ammonia as well as some dangerous processes involving nitrification, peroxidation, sulfonation, chlorination, fluorination or diazotization reactions, and restrict rigidly the construction of phosgene-related projects
