AkzoNobel Opens Powder Coatings Technology Center in China      

AkzoNobel, the world's leading paints, coatings and specialty chemicals maker on June 8th inaugurated its Powder Coatings Technology Center in Ningbo, Zhejiang province.
   This R & D center has a state-of-the-art laboratory and will have an initial team of 20 scientists and technicians organized in Centers of Expertise for the strategic market sectors. The new facility is located at the existing AkzoNobel powder coatings manufacturing site in Ningbo.
   All the Centers of Expertise (Automotive, Architectural, Furniture, Domestic Appliance, IT and General Industrial) and their corresponding Marketing Teams will be located at the center, ensuring a coordinated R & D effort and an excellent fit with the requirements of its customers.
    The establishment of Ningbo R & D center is another testimony of AkzoNobel's commitment to consolidate its global leadership position in powder coatings.
   The Ningbo research center also highlights the increasing importance of China in its global strategy. It is consistent with its ambition of deploying R & D resources in the region of fastest growth and major AkzoNobel presence. In addition China has developed excellent universities where a huge talent pool is available.
   AkzoNobel started producing powder coatings in China in 1991. This new technology center will put AkzoNobel in the best position to be the strategic partners of its customers in the development of new products for better, sustainable business.
