National Non-Grain Biomass Energy Research Center to Be Built in Guangxi

China will build a national non-grain biomass energy engineering and technology research center in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The center, approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology this February and backed by the Guangxi Academy of Sciences, needs total cost of RMB32 million.
The proposed center will be formed in next three years, with more than 12 000 square meters for research and development and for pilot test. It will set up platforms for generic technical/industrial research, incubation, applications of engineering achievements, and information service.
The center aims to create a world-class engineering and technology team to provide technologic supports for the development of non-grain biomass energy industry in Guangxi and in China.
Under the directives of the national energy and grain security plan and the nation's mid- to long-term science development blueprint, the center will focus on the research of non-grain biomass energy sources such as cassava and sugar cane, with an aim to solve the technological and economic barriers and boost the development of China's non-grain biomass energy industry.
